My Samsung (labelled AKAI) indicated a bad lamp, so I replaced it. Still bad, so I took it to a TV repair place. They told me they reseated the lamp, and it worked. When I got it home, it worked for 10 minutes. I reseated the lamp, and it worked for another ten minutes or so. Being a retired electronics tech, I suspected cooroded contacts on the lamp, so bought some contact cleaner at an auto parts store. (CRC brand) I sprayed the males and the females. It is working, which makes me think the original lamp may be good. It was still lit.
This makes me wonder about ballast boards. Is it the board, or just the contacts? For $5, the contact cleaner is worth a try. The worst part of any electronics, or electrics, seems to be the connectors, in my experience.
